WASHINGTON — During the past few years, Americans have endured top-down government mandates over COVID-19 vaccines, abortions, gender issues, and even the persecution of Amish farmers who sell raw milk.
At the same time, government officials have leaned on media and social media to suppress dissenting voices.
“Let’s just call it what it is — medical tyranny,” says Katy Talento, executive director of the Alliance of Health Care Sharing Ministries. “The public wants to hear more from both major parties and their presumptive nominees about how they are going to address this growing threat. We’re not hearing nearly enough about it.”
“Exhibit A is how the COVID-19 pandemic was mishandled,” she says. “Health officials imposed requirements for vaccinations, masking, social distancing, lockdowns, and alternative treatments. They far too often denied religious exemptions for vaccine mandates. They still harass doctors, nurses, pharmacists and others care who refuse to be involved in abortions or gender experiments on kids.
“Churches were ordered shut while liquor stores and casinos were allowed to stay open.
“They harassed doctors who disagreed, even going so far as to pressure social media into blocking posts that differed from the official narrative. In almost all cases, the dissenters have turned out to be right.
“In a way, the pandemic epitomizes and exposes the dangers of centralized authority, and it shows why alternative approaches like Health Care Sharing Ministries are so important.
“Members of these ministries, save money, avoid red tape, have the freedom to try alternative treatments not covered by health insurance, and are not forced to subsidize objectionable practices such as abortion or gender-bending drugs and treatments. Just as important to ministry members, they are exercising their freedom of conscience.”
“It’s about time that the major parties addressed health issues and gave Americans greater freedom over their own medical care. Americans want to know their freedom of conscience will be recognized and protected.
“The real issue is whether there is a health care option that is truly free from government control, unlike health insurance. People of faith are looking for a refuge that is consistent with their religious beliefs and that recognizes their God-given authority over their own medical decisions.”
Founded in 2007 and headquartered in Washington, D.C., the Alliance of Health Care Sharing Ministries is a 501(c)(6) trade organization representing the common interests of Health Care Sharing Ministry organizations which are facilitating the sharing of health care needs (financial, emotional, and spiritual) by individuals and families, and their participants.
