‘We thank AG Jonathan Skrmetti for standing up for religious freedom and defending Christian health care’

WASHINGTON The Alliance of Health Care Sharing Ministries (AHCSM.org) recently honored Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti with the “Religious Liberty Champion of the Year” award in recognition of his bravery on behalf of the free exercise of religion.

“We thank AG Jonathan Skrmetti for standing up for religious freedom and defending Christian health care,” said Executive Director of the Alliance Katy Talento.

“We applaud Jonathan for his bold stand for freedom. The Alliance of Health Care Sharing Ministries is pleased to acknowledge him and his work protecting Health Care Sharing Ministries in Tennessee by naming him our ‘Religious Liberty Champion of the Year.’”

In his position of attorney general, Skrmetti “acts as the chief legal officer for the State of Tennessee, provides advice and representation to all three branches of Tennessee government, affirmatively enforces Tennessee’s consumer protection, antitrust, and false claims laws, and protects the sovereign interests of Tennessee and the freedoms of its people by litigating in defense of federalism and separation of powers.”

As Tennessee’s Attorney General, Jonathan Skrmetti has been an advocate for faith and religious freedom, applying his Christian values to protect the rights and freedoms of Tennesseans. He recently hosted and moderated a “Faith and State” Capitol event to defend faith in politics, sorting through questions regarding the relationship between church and state. Skrmetti holds strong to pushing cultural issue-related legislation that coincides with conservative Christian constituents.

Founded in 2007 and headquartered in Washington, D.C., the Alliance of Health Care Sharing Ministries is a 501(c)(6) trade organization representing the common interests of Health Care Sharing Ministry organizations which are facilitating the sharing of health care needs (financial, emotional, and spiritual) by individuals and families, and their participants.
